PSALM STUDENTS CALL ON ALL STATES PARTIES TO “COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE”. “IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL IT IS DONE” NELSON MANDELA

Mozambique Summit for a mine free world
PSALM STUDENTS ENCOURAGE ALL COUNTRIES TO JOIN THE MINE BAN TREATY AND COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE FOR A MINE FREE WORLD

Message from the Proud Students Against Landmines and Cluster Munitions to All Countries at the Third Review Conference of the Mine Ban Treaty

PSALM (PROUD STUDENTS AGAINST LANDMINES and CLUSTER BOMBS) members are students dedicated to educating others about the need for a world free of landmines and cluster bombs. PSALM students work on various projects throughout the year including awareness days, service projects, presentations in our school, community, state, and nationally, as well as advocating for universalization of the treaties banning these weapons.

Our artwork visually represents “working together, coming together, hand in hand and committing to a mine-free world”. This artwork was designed by students ranging in age from 8 to 13 years to mark the Maputo Review Conference and to encourage all states, including the United States, to join the Mine Ban Treaty and to complete their remaining treaty obligations for a mine-free world!

PSALM Students are committed to educating the public about the devastation caused by landmines and cluster munitions and recognize the indiscriminate nature of these weapons leading to the destruction of innocent life, especially children, long after wartime hostilities have ceased. In March 2014, PSALM/WVCBL recognized their fifteen year anniversary. PSALM students are members of the West Virginia, United States and International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC).
